Andy Ross
Andy Ross is a normally a music producer, composer, multi instrumentalist and re-mixer whose collaborations include legends such as David Gilmour and Paul McCartney through to modern acts like Hurts (via Tori Amos, Mark Almond, Howard Jones and a host of others) Andy has been producing, co-writing and performing everything from ballet scores and soundtracks to electronica, alternative rock and pop. Recently he moved with his family from London to Sydney. Looking for work he was commissioned to compose music that might articulate the issue of drought the farmers in NSW where dealing with. "I was totally out of my depth and so asked if I could spend time with the farmers. I happened to take a camcorder with me so I could document this strange new experience. It wasn't supposed to be a film I just wanted a video diary for my self. But I realised that the story I had unwittingly caught on film would speak more honestly than any music I could compose. If I could piece together and edit the footage I might able be put together a story and say something about the issues through film. It was an extraordinary experience to make something without setting out to.... A great lesson for me all round and an experience I will never forget.

ThanksBig thankyou to Christopher Saunders at 'BighART' for commissioning me to produce this work and for organising my trip out to the sheep farm and in having faith that I would deliver something worthwhile. Also thanks to Keith his brother for matchmaking us. And thanks to Sara Davis for allowing me to use some of her footage in the film.
